Chemical Peels
Chemical peels are a popular and versatile treatment designed to rejuvenate the skin and address a variety of skin concerns. This treatment works by applying a specially formulated chemical solution to the skin’s surface, which causes the top layer to gently peel away. This process reveals fresh, new skin underneath and stimulates the growth of healthier, thicker skin.
The depth of the peel and the results depend on:
The type of chemical used
The strength of the solution
How long it is applied to the skin
Since the new skin is more sensitive, wearing high-quality sun protection is essential after the treatment to shield it from harmful UV rays.
Why Choose a Chemical Peel?
Chemical peels are an effective way to:
Smooth fine lines and wrinkles.
Improve uneven skin tone and texture.
Minimise acne scars and blemishes.
Brighten dull, lacklustre skin.
Revitalise skin for a fresh, glowing appearance.

Frequently Asked Questions
What happens during a Medical Skin Peel?
What can I expect after the treatment? How much peeling will I get?
What product is in the Medical Skin Peel and could this harm my skin?
This is dependent on the brand. The commonest ingredients are glycolic acid, salicylic acid or lactic acid based. The use of these substances dates back to Ancient Egyptians when the aristocrats of that society bathed in milk and rubbed grape skins on their skin. The current medical peels are derived from these naturally occurring substances. They have a nourishing effect helping to chemically exfoliate the skin to reveal new skin without causing any harm.
Obagi® Medical have a Blue Peel Radiance which is superficial salicylic acid based peel (light peel) and can be performed without any specific preparation. This is a great skin peel to have before starting on your Obagi® Medical skin journey.
AlumierMD offer a range of peels which are lactic acid based and can be customised to target specific skin concerns. They all require specific aftercare products to gain optimum results.
BioRePeel is an innovative peel treatment, using 2-phase technology that taps into the power of bio-stimulation, revitalisation, and peeling substances to rejuvenate the skin.
Neostarata® Prosystem Peels offers a highly effective, superficial peeling system that is clinically proven to achieve outstanding and predictable results for skin rejuvenation. It offers the flexibility of a range of peels for different skin concerns.
What type of peel should I have?
During your consultation, Dr Tash will design a bespoke plan of treatment that may or may not involve other modalities to achieve optimal results.
How long will the treatment take?
I am planning a holiday in the sun when should I have my Medical Skin Peel treatment?
Do Medical Peels get rid of scarring?
Does it work for pigmentation?
Uneven pigmentation is mostly caused by sun damage and this responds very well to chemical peels. However successful treatment of pigmentation requires the cause of the pigmentation to be eradicated. If the pigmentation is caused by factors such as active acne, hormones or medication then it is more crucial to treat the cause than the effect initially.
How do I maintain a blemish free skin?
It is recommended to have maintenance chemical peel programme and consider a prescription-based skincare routine. Dr Tash can help you with advice as what will be best for you.
