Excessive Sweating Treatment Billericay
Excessive underarm sweating
The commonest area for excessive sweating is the underarm area although some individuals experience excessive sweating in the palms of hands, the soles of feet and the face. The cause is often unknown.
According to the International Hyperhidrosis Society, 5% of the World’s population (365 Million people) suffer from excessive sweating so you are not alone. You may find the following website informative.

What causes sweating?
The reason why we sweat is to cool our bodies down. Some areas of our body have a higher concentration of sweat glands.
There are two types of sweat glands. The eccrine glands are found on the palms, soles of our feet, forehead, cheeks, and armpits. They produce odourless, clear fluid which then evaporates from the body surface and helps to cool the body down.
The other type of sweat gland is the apocrine gland. These are found in the armpits and genital area. They produce a thicker fluid and when this fluid comes in contact with bacteria on the skin surface, produces ‘body odour’.
Both types of sweat glands are activated by nerves in response to hormones, emotions, or physical activity.
In people who suffer from hyperhidrosis, the sweat glands (mainly eccrine glands) are overreactive producing more sweat.
It is important to establish if there are any medical causes for the excessive sweating before treatment is undertaken therefore consultation with a doctor is key.
The Treatment options I offer
Anti-wrinkle injections
Following a face-to-face consultation, anti-wrinkle injections can be injected into the sweat glands. Here, it blocks the signal from the nerve to the glands. This will stop the gland from producing sweat. Over a period this effect will wear off resulting in symptoms returning.
