SkinPen Microneedling
SkinPen microneedling is a medical microneedling procedure aimed at stimulating the body’s own collagen production to generate new skin cells which makes the skin smoother, brighter, and healthier. Hence, it is also called collagen induction therapy.
At Skin Enhance and Wellness Dr Tash uses the FDA-cleared medical device SkinPen microneedling device. The SkinPen is an advanced electronically powered device that uses 14 sterile needles to vertically pierce the skin to create thousands of tiny holes within seconds. This injury to the skin stimulates the natural healing process as it begins to break down old rigid collagen and release serum growth factors which stimulate new collagen and elastin development. This is a complete skin remodeling process.
The SkinPen microneedling results are equivalent to lasers but at a fraction of the cost and with less downtime and minimal damage to the integrity of the skin.
How is the SkinPen microneedling device superior to Dermal rollers?
Unlike manual rollers, the SkinPen creates vertical channels which are designed to achieve a uniform effect, with minimal superficial damage. Dermal Rollers create V-shaped holes as they enter and leave the skin which is unnecessary trauma to the skin. Moreover, due to the vertical insertion mechanism, the needles can easily pierce scar tissue.
The speed is much higher achieving thousands of piercings per minute meaning the treatment time is lower while achieving superior results.
The number of insertions is much higher than the dermal rollers per square meter while the discomfort is much lower resulting in overall better results.
The SkinPen has adjustable needle depth so specific areas can be treated safely and effectively for example, under the eyes, side of the nose, and across the top lip. This easier maneuverability around all facial contours results in a more uniform treatment.
The SkinPen causes minimal superficial damage which means less pain and redness post-treatment.
This method of skin rejuvenation treats multiple skin concerns including:
Acne scars
Fine lines and wrinkles
Sun-damaged skin such as sun or age spots
Vitiligo
Enlarged Pores
Surgical Scars
Stretch marks
Skin tightening, lifting, and rejuvenation.
