Skin Regenerative treatment

Polynucleotides

Polynucleotides offer a unique approach to skin rejuvenation. Harnessing the power of salmon DNA, polynucleotides are chains of ultra-purified, sterilised, DNA fractions. Available as an injectable, this is a new treatment in aesthetic medicine promising incredible, visible, results. Polynucleotides have been shown to be ‘catalysts’ or ‘fertilisers’ in the regeneration of fibroblasts- the main cells within the skin’s structure. By stimulating tissue repair and growth factors, they encourage restoration and regeneration of your skin from within. Hence there will be a noticeable improvement in skin texture, fewer lines and wrinkles and global enhancement of skin health (acne, rosacea, scarring, pigmentation) resulting in a more youthful and revitalised appearance.

Unlike hyaluronic acid-based skin boosters and dermal fillers, it does not rely on the hydration properties of hyaluronic acid. At Skin Enhance and Wellness, Billericay, Dr Tash has personally researched and studied extensively to source the highest concentration of polynucleotides available on the market. We are thrilled to introduce Plinest (formally Plenhyage) and Newest.

What are the benefits of polynucleotides?

Improve the skin’s overall tone and complexion by reducing hyperpigmentation.

It is a versatile treatment suitable for many areas of the body to improve skin health and quality resulting in natural-looking results. Polynucleotides can be used to address a wide range of concerns from enhancing facial features naturally or addressing poor skin quality on the body. Often used to improve stretch marks, it can also be used to revitalise ageing skin on your hands, neck, or decolletage. Polynucleotide treatment is minimally invasive with little downtime. The procedure involves a series of injections that deliver the polynucleotides directly into the targeted areas. Patients often experience minimal discomfort during the treatment, and any swelling or redness typically subsides within a few days.

To achieve optimal results, a course of polynucleotide treatment is recommended. The exact number of sessions will depend on the condition of your skin and the desired outcome. Your skin will be assessed during your consultation and a treatment plan formulated based on your concerns and your goals. Patience is key, as the benefits of polynucleotides develop over time, revealing rejuvenated, youthful glowing skin over time. Following your course of treatment, a maintenance program ensures that your skin remains in its best condition.

plinest (previously plenhyage)

Plinest contains the highest concentration of polynucleotides in the market. Research has shown that the benefits of treatment are dependent on the amount of polynucleotides used. Therefore, using the highest concentration delivers the best results. Each syringe contains 40mg of polynucleotides. Plinest has 2 main uses. Firstly, it can be used as a preventative for young skin. Secondly, it can be used as a regenerative in a more mature skin. It has been shown to be particularly beneficial in improving scar tissue. As it stimulates the activity of the skin’s own cells, it is a very natural way of rejuvenation without any risk of overfilling.

Specific benefits of Plinest:

Improves skin quality

Restores skin radiance and freshness

Promotes bio-regeneration

Reduces wrinkles and skin laxity

It is suitable for the face and body, both as a treatment on its own or in combination with other modalities. There are specific formulations available for rejuvenation of the eye area-Plinest Eye or hair (scalp, eyebrows)- Plinest hair.

Newest (polynucleotides + hyaluronic acid)

Specifically designed for mature skin, this innovative product has the synergistic benefits of polynucleotides with the hydrating capacity of hyaluronic acid. Newest also contains mannitol, an additional ingredient that retains moisture and prolongs the effect of hyaluronic acid. This gives multiple benefits to the skin. Firstly, non-crosslinked hyaluronic acid hydrates the skin. Secondly, the polynucleotides stimulate collagen and elastin resulting in a more turgid and supple appearance. Thirdly, the repair initiated by polynucleotides remodels depressed scars. Additionally, the antioxidant activity protects the skin from further damage. Overall, Newest helps rejuvenate mature and dehydrated skin in many ways.

Studies have shown that after treatment, the following were observed:

Significant improvement in overall skin quality and texture

Improvement in wrinkles and skin roughness

Increased elasticity

Reduction in pigmentation

It is suitable for young skin, mature skin, damaged skin, acne scars, and stretch marks. Newest can be used on the face and body.

Plinest Eye

Specifically designed for the delicate skin around the eye area. It has just the right concentration of polynucleotides to give reliable results without excessive swelling. Can be used under the eyes, above the eyes and around the outer corners of the eyes to address crow’s feet to reduce wrinkles and skin laxity providing visible skin tightening effects.

Plinest Hair

Specifically designed for the hair and eyebrow area.

Frequently Asked Questions about polynucleotides

Where does the DNA come from?

The DNA for the polynucleotides is sourced from salmon or trout sperm DNA, the same fish used for human consumption.

What if I am allergic to fish?

High purification methods have been used to extract tiny amounts of fish DNA. After going through the specialised clinical filtration and ultra-purification, you can be reassured there is no fish residue present. Even those with an allergy to fish can have polynucleotides with clinical trials reporting no allergic reactions to date.

How do polynucleotides work?

Unlike hyaluronic-acid-based products, polynucleotides stimulate the fibroblasts within the dermis layer of the skin. Hence, instead of an instant, temporary filling effect, we get tissue regeneration. The skin is stimulated to repair itself and boost collagen production which can take up to 90 days.

What happens during a treatment session?

Depending on the area of treatment, it can be injected via a needle to form tiny blebs under the skin or a cannula may be used. The process takes about 20-30 minutes. You will have numbing cream prior to the procedure especially if there are multiple injections. Avoid makeup immediately following the treatment to prevent infection. You can normally return to normal activities after treatment. The blebs may last a few hours or can take longer in some patients. Some patients may experience swelling for about a week following treatment.

What can I expect after the treatment?

Possible side effects are redness and swelling which might last for a few days. Allergic reaction to the product is very rare. I will give you my personal mobile number to use if you have any concerns. It is advisable not to wear makeup for 12 hours and avoid strenuous exercise for the first 24 hours after the procedure. Avoid intensive sunlight for 2-3 weeks post-procedure. I recommend having a good skincare routine with sunscreen following the procedure to gain optimal results. Aftercare information sheets will be provided post-procedure and I will be happy to offer any advice you need, on this.

When will I see results?

You can expect to see some improvement 3-4 weeks after your first treatment with the full effects visible around 3 months. It is recommended that you have your 2nd treatment after 2-3 weeks to continue to stimulate the fibroblasts, maximising the short and long-term effects.

How many treatments will I need?

I recommend a course of 3-4 treatments spaced 2-3 weeks apart and maintenance every 6 months but this may depend on your skin condition. They can be incorporated into other treatments and individual results vary.

How do I maintain glowing healthy skin?

It is recommended that you have two to three treatments at the recommended interval and continue with a maintenance programme with or without a prescription based skincare routine.
