Tear Trough Filler

tear trough filler

Tear trough filler is a cosmetic treatment that involves injecting hyaluronic acid filler into the hollow space under the eyes, also known as the tear trough. This area can become sunken or darkened due to aging, genetics, or other factors, creating a tired or aged appearance.

Tear trough filler helps to plump up the area, reducing the appearance of hollows and dark circles, and giving the face a more youthful and refreshed look. The procedure is non-surgical and typically takes less than an hour to complete, with minimal downtime.

Tear trough fillers are a minimally invasive way to improve the hollowness under the eyes for a soft, natural effect. Although this does not directly improve pigmentation, reducing the shadows can help to brighten the under-eye area.

It’s important to note that tear trough filler is a cosmetic procedure with risks and potential side effects. These include bruising, swelling, infection, and vascular complications, so it’s important to discuss the procedure with Dr Tash and follow the post-treatment instructions carefully.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do tear trough fillers work?
Tear trough fillers replace volume and plump up the hollowness under the eyes to give a fresher, brighter appearance.
How is the treatment performed?
The treatment is carried out with a blunt-ended device called a cannula after the skin is pierced with an introducer/needle. The dermal filler is placed precisely in the groove below the lower lid. The treatment is carried out this way to reduce the risk of piercing any vital blood vessels.
When will I see results?
There may be some immediate effects but the best results are seen 2 weeks later.
What can I expect after the treatment?
You may experience some swelling and bruising under the eyes for anything between 48hr to 1 week following treatment. Do factor this in when you book your appointment. Your full aftercare will be discussed prior to your treatment and sent via email afterward.
Are there any circumstances when this treatment is not suitable?
As always, dermal filler treatments are not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Regarding tear trough fillers in particular, it is best avoided if you have significant eye bags or puffy eyes as this may worsen. This is why it is best to have a consultation first to assess suitability.
How long do the effects last?
Under-eye fillers tend to last longer than in other parts of the face. Unlike other parts of the face that are constantly in motion, the skin beneath the eyes largely stays in place, so results can last for up to 12 months. The effects of repeat treatments tend to last even longer.
Will tear trough treatment improve my dark circles?
The dermal filler treatment itself does not improve the pigmentation but the plumping effect may help to reduce the appearance of the dark circle due to reduction of the shadowing effect.
Will I look dramatically different after treatment?
After the procedure, you will start to notice results right away and then improve further over the next two weeks. Tear trough fillers give subtle, natural results that won’t make you look radically different. But once the results have taken full effect, your eyes and your overall face will look more relaxed, refreshed, and youthful.
